Generators Page – Usability Improvements
As dealers using Fleet continue to experience growth of the volume of generators they are monitoring in Fleet, we have been seeing some troublesome performance of the Generators page in the Fleet application. To address these issues, we have made some changes to the way the application is loading the information presented on the page.
What’s changing?
The dashboard will now load in two separate segments:
- Generator Status “tiles” on the top of the page – these include the counts by status and the status pie chart.
- Generator List or “grid” view on the bottom portion of the page.
- You may notice a loading indicator in the list view while the data is being retrieved.
To improve the loading time of the page, upon login to Fleet a default filter will be applied on the initial load of the Generators page. The default filter will use “status” to filter the generator list. The following statuses will be included in the default filter:
- Fault
- Warning
- Running
We have added new visual indicators in the List View to make it very clear which filters are applied to the list view:
You can remove a filter that is applied by doing any of the following:
- Click the “x” in the filter display “pill” (shown above)
- Click the status tile on the top of the page (clicking a status tile serves to both apply and unapply a status filter)
- Uncheck the status in the Generator Status filter dropdown (also shown above).
How does this impact the way that I will use the Keyword search/filter function?
It is important to understand that the “Filter by keyword” option applies the keyword filter against the records that are present in the list view. For example: If you are using a Serial Number in the keyword filter, and your list view is filtered to Fault status: the generator will not return in your filter results if that generator is not currently in a Fault status.
If you are using the keyword filter to find a specific unit in your fleet and get the “no results found” message, please review the filters you have applied and expand your selections as necessary.
I’m still seeing delays in loading the list view sometimes, do I need to wait for it to load before I can do anything else?
Depending on the filters you are applying, there could still be some delays in loading the list view if there are many records being returned (e.g., including Ready to Run status in your filter). However, we have made a change to the page that will allow you to use the list view features while the list is still loading (see image below).
This means that you can begin using the keyword filter and/or applying other filters to refine the list view while the list is still loading, which will reduce the time to get to the result you’re looking for.
The features that are not available while the list view is loading are the “Export to CSV” (CSV icon) and “Configure columns” (wrench icon).
