If a generator was successfully connected and has since, become disconnected or stopped communicating with us, the generator's status icon with turn Grey. The specific symbol that is displayed correlates to a full-color variation of that same icon and indicates the last known status that was reported before the generator stopped communicating.
Icons will turn grey when we have not heard from the generator in at least 3 hour (Wi-Fi Connections) or 27 hours (LTE or Wi-Fi Ethernet Connections). When a generator displays this icon, it is recommended that the connectivity status of the generator be investigated to determine the cause of the communication interruption. Disconnected statuses could be caused by a wide variety of issues, including a temporary loss of Wi-Fi service in the house, a change to Wi-Fi Network Credentials or hardware, or even a generator failing to start during an outage causing a Wi-Fi connection to fail. Investigating, determining a cause, and resolving grey icons should be considered a high priority.
NOTE: Some generators that have poor signal strength can cause intermittent connectivity. This may cause it to disconnect and reconnect sporadically. In this event, the Icon may switch from color to grey and back repeatedly. In this case, it is strongly advised to consider a Wi-Fi Signal Extender.
A breakdown of the various statuses and their disconnected variations is described below:
Fault
This icon indicates when a generator is in a status that will prevent the generator from running in the event of a utility loss. This can include Being Set to the off position, An Emergency Stop or Auxiliary shutdown switch being triggered, or a variety of generator alarms that will prevent normal operation. The grey version of this icon is an indication that the generator is currently disconnected or unable to communicate, however, the last known status for this generator before communication was lost will prevent the generator from running.
Warning
This icon indicates when a generator is in a status that requires attention, however, it will NOT prevent the generator from running in the event of a utility loss. This can include Maintenance events, battery charge alerts, or a variety of generator alarms that should be addressed but will not prevent normal operation. The grey version of this icon is an indication that the generator is currently disconnected or unable to communicate, however, the last known status for this generator before communication was lost should be addressed however will not prevent the generator from running. Superscript versions of this icon may also appear alongside other icon types (i.e. Running, Exercising). This indicated an active warning state while the generator may also be in another state (i.e. running, Exercising).
Running
This icon indicates when a generator is currently running. This can include run events like running due to utility loss or running due to manual operation. (Note: This icon does NOT represent running due to exercise. See the Exercising Icon for this status.) The grey version of this icon is an indication that the generator is currently disconnected or unable to communicate, however, the last known status for this generator before communication was lost indicated the generator was actively running. A superscript version of the Warning Icon may also appear alongside this icon type This indicates an active warning state while the generator is running.
Ready To Run
This icon indicates when a generator is Ready to Run in the event of utility loss. This is an indication that everything is good to go and no additional actions or attention is required! The grey version of this icon is an indication that the generator is currently disconnected or unable to communicate, however, the last known status for this generator before communication was lost indicated the generator was Ready to Run. A superscript version of the Warning Icon may also appear alongside this icon type This indicates that the generator has been in an active warning state long enough to experience another event and return to a ready-to-run state, with the Warning status unaddressed (The generator will still operate as expected however there is an event that should be addressed).
Exercising
This icon indicates when a generator is currently running in exercise mode. (Note: This icon does NOT represent running due to utility loss or running due to manual operation. See the Running icon for this status.) The grey version of this icon is an indication that the generator is currently disconnected or unable to communicate, however, the last known status for this generator before communication was lost indicated the generator was actively running in exercise mode. A superscript version of the Warning icon may also appear alongside this icon type This indicates an active warning state while the generator is running in exercise mode.
Unknown
This icon indicates when a generator has been added to FLEET, however, has not yet reported a status. This may happen if a generator has not been connected via Wi-Fi or LTE, or if the generator has been connected, however, no new events have yet been reported. If the generator is known to be currently connected, A "Get Status" command can sometimes force an update from the generator, and resolve this status. (Note: In some rare cases, this status may occur if the generator was not power-cycled following the connectivity device installation. A power cycle of the generator may resolve the issue.)
Communication Failure
This icon indicates when a communication device (i.e. On-Board Wi-Fi Device, 4G LTE Accessory, or Wi-Fi/Ethernet Accessory) is connected and communicating with FLEET via the internet, however, the communication device on the generator is unable to communicate with the generator's controller. Controller accessory port issues, connectivity device harness problems, or connectivity device hardware failure may cause this. In almost all cases, an onsite visit is required to understand the full extent of the issue causing this status.
