What is the Connectivity Warranty Upgrade Program?
Any Wi-Fi Enabled generator activated on or after March 2, 2020 that is connected and subscribed to an Active or Dealer Manager (AKA FLEET) Mobile Link Subscription, within 90 days of initial activation, will be eligible for a free upgrade to special 5-year, full coverage warranty.
What are the terms of the offer?
- Only Air-cooled Wi-Fi enabled generators are eligible
- Only Generators activated after March 2nd, 2020 are eligible
- Generator must be initially connected within 90 days of activation (Connection determine based on received communications from the generator. Lack of communication will prevent upgrade)
- The generator must be subscribed to an Active or Dealer Managed Mobile Link Subscription
- Generators can be connected via Wi-Fi or LTE communications (only Wi-Fi enabled generators are eligible.)

When does the 90 day counter start?
The 90 Day time will only begin upon the date of activation of the generator.
What if my process is to activate early, and it takes more than 90 to install and connect?
Unfortunately, generators connected after 90 days will not be eligible for the free warranty upgrade.
What if it is new construction, and the gen has been installed before registration, or the gen cannot be connected until the homeowner takes occupancy?
As long as the generator is not activated, the 90-day countdown will not begin.
Am I required to have a subscription for the full term of the warranty?
An Active or Dealer Managed Mobile Link subscription, is required for at least one year.
Do FLEET subscriptions count?
Absolutely!
Can I use a CDMA Mobile Link device?
No.
When does the program start?
This program is scheduled to begin March 2nd, 2020.
What is the warranty effectivity date?
The warranty Effectivity date is the same as the activation date.
How do I get notified that the warranty has been upgraded?
Dealers will be able to check warranty status in GenService as they have historically.
How does the customer get notified that the warranty has been upgraded?
Email notification of the upgrade is sent to the Customer directly this will include the new warranty statement.
Will there be a new warranty certificate for the 5-Year Extended-Limited Warranty?
Yes, the new warranty statement will be automatically delivered to the customer via email following the upgrade.
What if the customer does not have WiFi or does not want it?
The connection can be established through any available Generac provided connectivity option. This means the customer could choose to connect Via the 4G LTE accessory as an alternative.
What if we can’t get the customer connected to their Wi-Fi network for some technical reason?
The connection can be established through any available Generac provided connectivity option. This means the customer could choose to connect Via the 4G LTE accessory as an alternative.
What if the connection is lost after the warranty is applied?
Once the warranty upgrade is applied, there is no expectation that the warranty would be downgraded.
Does this apply to liquid-cooled gens?
No.
Do free subscriptions count?
Free Subscriptions do not qualify. Only Active tier or Dealer Managed Mobile Link Subscriptions provide eligibility.
If I am a dealer, do I have to have it in FLEET to get the warranty?
While Dealer Managed Mobile Link Subscriptions (aka FLEET accounts) qualify, they are not required. Active tier subscriptions can be purchased by the customer separately to qualify.
Why does Generac require the connection to get the enhanced warranty?
Connectivity to a generator encourages many benefits to the consumer and dealer alike. One significant advantage is the ability of the generator to update automatically when Software updates are available. (evolution2.0 controllers).
Why do we require the subscription and not just the connection?
An Active Tier, or Dealer Managed subscription ensures the customer has the opportunity to experience the full benefits of a connected generator.
Can I still purchase a 7 or 10-year warranty?
Yes, the upgraded warranty does not prevent upgrades to 7 or 10 extended warranties.
What if the customer already paid for a 5-year can they get a refund?
Refunds will not be provided for warranties purchased before connecting.
How does Generac determine if the generator is connected / What qualifies it?
To be considered connected, a generator must be able to communicate with Mobile Link Servers (i.e., Mobile Link Servers must receive messages from the generator.)
What if there is no Wi-Fi or cell phone coverage at the generator location?
A generator requires a Wi-Fi or cellular connection to be eligible for the upgrade.
What if I have more than one generator?
The number of generators owned by a customer does not impact their upgrade eligibility.
What if the customer does not want the upgrade?
Upgrade will be performed automatically upon connection and subscription. If a customer does not want the upgrade for some reason, these scenarios can be dealt with on a case by case basis.
Will the warranty claims for these warranties be honored and processed the same way?
Yes
What does the 5-year upgraded warranty cover?

Can I bundle warranties?
Warranty promotions cannot be combined.
What if I install a generator from the national promo after
You get the best of the two warranty offers.
Can this be combined with other promotions?
Warranty promotions cannot be stacked.
Can multiple warranties be added together?

Will these connections affect my dealer connection rate?
Yes, any connection you make, for generators sold to you will improve your connection rate.
What if I am activating a generator that was purchased before March 2020
The purchase date is irrelevant to this offer. As long as the generator is an Air-cooled wi-fi generator and it is activated after March 2nd, 2020, it is eligible.
What if it is not a Wi-Fi gen?
Only Air-cooled, Wi-fi enabled gens are eligible for this upgrade offer.
What if I am purchasing a generator through another channel other than Generac?
The purchase method does not impact a generator’s eligibility.
How long after I connect will it take before this takes effect?
Typically, warranty upgrades should occur within 6-8 weeks of successful connection and subscription.
How do I connect a generator?
The Mobile Link Setup app, available on the Google Play or Apple App Store, is a helpful and guided mobile app that makes the process of getting connected easier than ever.
Do I have to connect the customer, or can the customer connect themselves?
While dealers are encouraged to assist a customer in connecting at install, the person who connects a generator does not affect eligibility for this upgrade offer.
