FLEET 3.1 Release: New and Improved Notification Settings
Get ready for a much anticipated change to how notifications are managed within FLEET. Administrators will now have the ability to add additional users to receive generator notifications from FLEET. The users added to this list will additionally be able to configure various individual generator settings. This will enable them to receive notifications for some or all of the generator(s) in FLEET.
How to Manage Notification Recipients
The new 'Manage Notification Recipients' page can be found by clicking on the bell icon in the FLEET menu:
This new page will allow you to add new recipients and manage existing recipients' notification settings.
To add a new notification recipient, click on the “create new button”. You will be required to provide 'First Name', 'Last Name' and 'Email address' for the recipient, while phone number is optional.
You will have the ability to select the following options for each recipient that you add:
Global Recipient: Recipients who have the Global Recipient check-box added will automatically receive notifications for all new generators that are enrolled in Fleet (see related information about generator-specific notifications).
Enrollment Emails: Recipients who have Enrollment Emails enabled will automatically receive a confirmation email when new enrollments are completed in FLEET.
Daily Summary: Recipients who have the Daily Summary Emails enabled will automatically receive the daily summary emails from FLEET.
Managing New Users
After saving the new recipient, you will be able to manage the default notification settings for the notification recipient using the yellow “set up default notifications button:
You will have the option to select which types of notifications a recipient wants to receive and how they would like the notifications delivered, whether through SMS or email. The default notifications will then be applied for all generators that the recipient is assigned to.
(The types of notifications the user can enable have not changed from what is currently offered in FLEET.)
Apply to all generators: when creating a recipient’s default notification settings, using the “Apply to all generators” check box will allow the recipient to be added to all generators in the dealer’s fleet.
Generator Notification Settings
After recipients have been created, they can be added to generators in the dealer’s fleet (note: recipients who have been flagged as “global recipients” will automatically be applied to new enrollments).
There is a new “notifications” tab on the generator details page:
Clicking “Add Recipient” will allow you to choose the recipient you want to add to the generator by clicking the “add” button. If you want to add a new recipient who is not yet in the system, the “create new” button will allow you to create a new recipient. Recipients who do not have default notification settings set up will require the user to select the types of notifications they want to receive and how they want them delivered.
The Notifications tab on generator details will display all recipients who will receive notifications for the generator. Use the pencil icon to edit the notification settings for that recipient and generator combination. The trash can icon can be used to remove the recipient from the generator.
Migrating Existing Notification Settings
What is going to happen to existing Notification settings (email settings and text settings in the dealer’s account settings)?
For now, those settings will remain intact and notifications will continue to send as normal, without interruption.
We have added a “migrate user” feature to help you get those emails and phone numbers set up in the new feature.
Using the “Migrate User” button, you can quickly create new recipients. The Migrate User button will link you directly to creating a new recipient with the email address or phone number you are migrating from pre-filled.
After creating a new recipient for the email address or phone number currently listed in your email and text settings, the old settings will automatically be removed.
