Signal strength is a highly variable thing. In some cases, signal strength that is quite strong can still cause communication problems due to interference from other pieces of technology. Since there is no true knowledge of the signal reliability, we can only make a recommendation for a minimum signal strength.
As the final step in the connection process, the generator will display its current signal strength. As a baseline, it is recommended that the connection signal strength for a generator be at least 30% to 40% to help reduce potential connection issues.
NOTE: Signal strength of less than 30% does not mean there will be communication issues. However, if there are connection stability issues with a signal strength of less than 30%, a Wi-Fi Extender is suggested to boost signal strength to a minimum of 30%.
When evaluating signal strength before installation, it is recommended that you verify signal strength with a smart device to see if a signal booster should be installed. To do this, hold your phone in the general location where the generator will be located. Open the Wi-Fi setting option on your phone and look for the homeowner's network (make sure you are connecting to their 2.4 GHz only network). Depending on the Mobile Device you will want to verify that the signal strength meets the requirements below:

In the event of signal Strength not reaching the recommended levels displayed above, installing an extender or also moving the router closer would be advised.
