This release brings improved visibility into how Fleet displays the generator status, including new and updated status and communication information about the generator, controller, and device. Additionally, providing information on what troubleshooting steps to take based on any detected issue.
Changes include:
- Enhanced Generator Connection Visibility
- Troubleshooting Recommendations
- Notification of Stalled Service Opportunities
Enhanced Generator Connection Visibility
We have improved visibility within Fleet to assess the status and signal strength of cellular and Wi-Fi connections, allowing you to view this information and us to provide recommendations for resolution. By enhancing access to diagnostic information, you can effectively pinpoint the source of communication issues, concentrate your efforts on resolving them, and ultimately enhance the performance and uptime of generators.
Controller Information
With this update, you can access controller connection information in the “Controller” section on the Generator Details Page. This allows you to monitor the health of the controller connection and identify whether the controller is the root cause of a generator connection problem. By gaining this insight, you can proactively address any issues to ensure resolution.
· Controller Connection Status You can view whether a controller is communicating or not communicating and the date and time that information was last recorded, if available.
· Controller Firmware Version As a Fleet User monitoring a generator, you now have the capability to review the different firmware versions of the generator components. This information is crucial in case of any engine performance issues, as you can relay it to Technical Services for further assessment. This allows them to identify if the firmware is outdated and take the necessary steps to address the situation. This firmware version was previously located on the Generator Information tab on the Generator Details page
Device formation
We have improved the visibility of a generator's device by presenting device information in the new “Device” tile on the Generator Details Page. This enables you to not only access device specifics but also monitor the health of the device connection. In situations of generator connection issues, this view helps in identifying if the device is the potential cause, empowering you to address the problem effectively.
- Device Type
- Device identifier This was previously located on the Subscriptions tab of the Generator Details page.
- Replace Device This option was previously located on the Subscriptions tab of the Generator Details page.
- Device Status You can view whether a device is communicating or not communicating and the date and time that information was last recorded.
Device Connected Events in Status History
You can now view the status event in the Status History tile indicating when the generator’s device connected (online) and communicated.
ECU Firmware Version
We are now displaying the ECU firmware version on the Generator Information tab on the Generator Details page so that when you are monitoring a generator you can communicate that to Technical Services if there is an issue with a generator’s engine performance so they can determine if it is out of date and what steps need to be taken.
Troubleshooting Recommendations
In case of a communication issue with a generator's device or controller, Fleet now provides suggested troubleshooting steps to help determine if the problem can be resolved remotely or if a technician needs to be dispatched to the generator's site for further investigation. The recommendations may involve actions like re-plugging the cable harness, performing firmware updates, and other relevant measures. These recommendations, when applicable, will be displayed in the Device and Controller sections of the Generator Details page.
Notification of Stalled Service Opportunities
If you are enrolled in the Service Opportunity program and have enabled Service Opportunity notifications, Fleet will now send alerts when an accepted Service Opportunity completion encounters a delay, allowing you to address the situation promptly and fulfill the request. Notifications will be dispatched through text and email channels and will also be visible in Generac 360.
Note: As part of the stalled Service Opportunity notification implementation, you may receive a "Welcome to Mobile Link" SMS text message if you have not received one previously. This may occur if you opted into the program and configured text notifications.
Additional Notes
We have changed the label of “Ambient Temperature” to "Controller Temperature" so the information communicated is a true representation of the value that is being reported
